Research Interests:

As an anatomic pathologist with a strong diagnostic focus, I have been ideally situated to do translational research, wedding bench research to patient care. Major areas of emphasis have included the endocrine and genitourinary systems as well as in the fields of breast and hematolymphoid pathology and melanoma. Specific areas of study have included Her2/neu expression and autoactivation in breast cancer, cell cycle kinetics in a host of cancers, multidrug resistance and modulation in breast and lung cancers, among others, the immunopathology of heart transplantation, and the pathobiology of metastatic melanoma. In addition, as a hematopathologist, major areas of study have included the immunopherotype and molecular analysis of all subtypes of lymphomas and leukemias and the study of immunodeficiencies, including AIDS. Recent work has also included epidemiologic studies of lymphoma, breast cancer, and colon cancer assessing the role of environment, diet, etc..
